Digital business startup moves into the next phase: The first phase of the nationwide central startup platform launches in Mannheim
Anyone looking to start a sole proprietorship in Mannheim can now save time: Mannheim is one of ten pilot locations. The Mannheim- Mannheim-Stadt Tax Office, in collaboration with the City of Mannheim, is participating in a pilot program to test a digital combined application that merges business registration and tax registration for sole proprietorships into a single process.
The combined application thus merges two previously separate processes: business registration with the Trade Licensing Office and the tax registration questionnaire submitted to the tax office.
Tax registration is, among other things, the basis for issuing a tax identification number. What’s new is that entrepreneurs can now enter and submit the information required for business registration and tax registration in a single, combined digital application process.
The combined application thus supplements the tax administration’s existing services available at www.elster.de.
The combined application is accessible via the nationwide startup portal www.gruenden.gov.de. Founders can fill out and submit the combined application digitally there.
The pilot phase is intended to test the process under real-world conditions and gather insights for the further development of a solution that can be used nationwide. Currently, the application is available to sole proprietors. In the future, the service is expected to be expanded to include other legal forms.

The “G24 – Faster Start-ups Together” project aims to enable business start-ups in Germany nationwide, digitally, and significantly faster.
