The deductibility of membership fees to associations depends on the purpose the association promotes. Membership fees to non-profit associations that primarily serve as a hobby or promote the preservation of the local area (e.g. for sports or cultural activities) are not deductible. Membership fees to sports clubs and music clubs are not deductible as donations
