My trailer was destroyed in a storm. I do not have comprehensive insurance. Can I claim the damage on my tax return?

A financial loss does not constitute an extraordinary burden. Only in the case of a replacement of existentially necessary items (e.g. household effects, clothing, but not a caravan) can there be an extraordinary burden to be taken into account for tax purposes.
